Anxiety

Anxiety is a mental health condition characterized by excessive worry, fear, or nervousness about everyday situations or specific events, often disproportionate to the actual threat. While feeling anxious occasionally is a normal response to stress, chronic or intense anxiety can interfere with daily functioning, leading to symptoms like restlessness, rapid heart rate, sweating, difficulty concentrating, and irritability. Common anxiety disorders include generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and phobias. The causes of anxiety can be complex, involving genetic predisposition, brain chemistry, trauma, and environmental stressors. Treatment typically includes psychotherapy (like cognitive-behavioral therapy), medication (such as anxiolytics or antidepressants), and stress management techniques like mindfulness and relaxation exercises to help individuals cope with their symptoms.
